NIR 2011 will be hosted by the Rainbow Nation, South Africa. We all know that the NIR region starts just after the visible region, i.e. just after red. Thus our slogan; NIR at the end of the rainbow. The rainbow colours in the logo are self explanatory whereas the beaded spectra symbolize South Africa where beaded handcrafts are plentiful!

About NIR 2011

You are invited to join NIR 2011, the 15th International Conference on Near Infrared Spectroscopy from
13-20 May 2011; hosted by the Rainbow Nation, South Africa, in Cape Town.

The main Conference will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from
15-20 May 2011, while the pre-conference courses will be held in Stellenbosch at the Wallenburg Research Centre at Stias from 13-14 May 2011.

The protection of our natural resources is of great concern to us and promoting an environmentally friendly technique such as NIR spectroscopy will be of great advantage to the African continent. Recently the New York-based business ethics and social responsibility think tank, the Ethisphere Institute, has voted Cape Town as one of the 10 cities in the world that are most likely to become a global sustainability centre by 2020. We therefore would like to encourage you to join us in this undertaking to promote the use of NIR spectroscopy in Africa.

NIR 2011 will be held under the auspices of the International Council for Near Infrared Spectroscopy (ICNIRS).
